Friday the week before, I had invited PERSONA NON GRATA to do an artistic demonstration at Sort/Hvid against a bill wanting to forbid all “inappropriate use of artifacts with significant religious meaning for any religious community,” including the artistic use of religious symbols. At this event, PERSONA NON GRATA––in character as their alter ego ”The Godess of Justice”––created banners and posters with our guests, including a banner especially for our Minister of Culture. Over a couple of days guests signed the banner that was then handed over by The Goddess of Justice herself.

Other theatres have also picked up banners and posters to hang up, just as a digital version of the banner is spreading on social media. A huge banner stating “Defend artistic freedom” can be seen hanging at the façade of Sort/Hvid. Later on Tuesday 26th September we were invited for a meeting with the Minister of Culture. I participated with PERSONA NON GRATA, Liv Helm from Husets Teater and a representative from Dansk Teater. We have later been informed that the bill has been revised in order to exclude art. The Bill has not yet been voted through, and we still hope it is dropped completely.
